It's a whole new ball game out there.

Long gone are the days when hiring a software developer meant simply posting a job listing. Today, with nearly five open roles for every developer, candidates aren’t choosing their next career step based on the job description. Instead, they are taking a closer look at the company behind the job. How are you branding your company to attract developers?

Join Stack Overflow Careers for a panel discussion to learn how four top employers in the NYC area hire tech talent by selling their mission and culture throughout their recruitment process. We’ll provide drinks, snacks, and plenty of time for getting to know other talent acquisition leaders and hiring managers in the city.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Artie Jordan, SVP of Information Technology, 2U

In 2008, 2U started as a team of five. This spring, they became only the third venture-backed education technology company to go public in the past five years. As the 3rd full time employee in TechDev, Arthur has overseen their growth to 500+ from a technologist's point of view. He’ll talk about their challenges and successes in building out a top-notch technology team to take their educational platform to the next level leading up to their IPO and beyond.

Joris Luijke, VP of HR and Talent, Squarespace

You may know them as the company with one of the most public-facing ad campaigns of any startup in NYC, but Squarespace’s branding impact doesn’t stop on the consumer level. As the VP of HR and Talent, Joris will explain how he helped Squarespace leverage their product brand affinity to attract top candidates from all over the U.S. in a campaign that started with a Super Bowl commercial.

Christy Mommsen, Director of Global Recruitment Marketing & Branding, American Express
When most people think about American Express, they probably don’t picture an innovative hotbed of technology projects and challenges, so the recruitment marketing team set out to change that perception. Taking what she learned from her background as a traditional marketer, Christy will discuss their massive recruitment marketing campaign, specifically designed to attract tech talent to American Express.

Anthony Onesto, VP of HR, Razorfish

Though any marketer or advertising professional might swoon to get a job at this media agency, Razorfish was having a tough time getting in front of a captive audience of software developers. Under Anthony’s direction, the team took a broader look at their recruitment tactics and took the same advice they give their clients -- they needed to rebrand. Learn how Razorfish put their engineering culture at the forefront of their recruitment campaign to attract and hire the best developer talent.
